The 25-year-old
told The Sun newspaper that his reason for waiting until 2014 was the fact that
he didn't want it to have to leave his fiancee behind while the band were busy
touring overseas:
"We've talked
about it. I was going to propose last year. But I want things to settle down a
bit with the band first."
Romantic Tom said
he couldn't bear to leave his fiancee behind as he travelled the world without
her:
''We're away so
much. With an engagement, you're meant to be committing to each other. I don't
want to get engaged and then go away for six months with the world tour.”
Yet the singer is
determined that - although delayed - the proposal WILL happen:
''I'm probably
going to wait until next year. It can be tough doing a long-distance thing. But
when you're with someone that you want to be with, you make it work.''
Luckily his
girlfriend Kelsey doesn't seem to mind the hold up - when asked previously, the
pretty blonde seemed to be very patient on the matter:
''Marriage is
definitely on the cards, but I don't know when.”
Although back
then, Tom gave his beau a much more original excuse for not putting a ring on
it – the fact that he didn't like wearing any jewellery:
“Tom told me he
can't wear a wedding ring because he hates anything around his fingers or neck,
so I told him I won't marry him until he agrees to wear a ring,'' Kelsey
explained.
One thing the
couple appear to have agreed on however, is the wedding ceremony itself –
according to the bride-to-be, the pair plan on having a low-key ceremony.
But knowing the
Wanted's reputation as party animals, Kelsey admitted that she knows things may
not go exactly to plan:
''I think we'd
like to keep (the wedding) low-key, but any party with The Wanted wouldn't be
low-key," she joked.
We're sure that
the rest of the band will be happy to hear that!
