Max George
of The Wanted has revealed he was the first member of the band to undergo
surgery on his throat.
Although
bandmate Nathan Sykes has hogged the headlines this year for his
career-threatening throat surgery performed in February, it was 25-year-old Max
who first went under the knife.
‘When I was
nineteen I had two operations. I had a problem with my throat and a deviated
septum in my sinuses so I had to have a part of the bone in my nose taken out
to help get more air in,’ he said, going on to explain he could empathise with
Nathan’s recovery process.
‘I lost my
voice for three months and I couldn’t breathe at night. But I just had to get
on with it,’ he said, adding that he was more than a little bit accident prone
in his teens.
‘I broke my
arm falling down stairs, I broke every toe in my feet playing football. I’ve
had too many injuries!’ he laughed.
