The two Noughties favourites will confirm plans on Monday to tour as a
supergroup, minus Charlie Simpson, 28.
And Nathan Sykes, who dismissed talks of solo plans, told me: “I think
it’s a brilliant idea, and one tour I don’t want to miss.
“There’s going to be a lot of energy on stage.
“Tom Fletcher and James Bourne are fantastic songwriters and have plenty
of tracks to pick from.” I caught up with Nathan and his bandmates Jay
McGuiness, 23, Max George, 25, Tom Parker, 25, and Siva Kaneswaran, 24, for
brunch to celebrate their third album release.
Word Of Mouth is heading for the Top 10 and, after months in America,
they’re glad to be back in Blighty.
Jay admitted: “Making this album has felt like the longest pregnancy
ever.”
Tom added: “It feels brilliant being home for three weeks.”
With a world tour planned next year, The Wanted will work right up till
December 23 promoting the disc before a festive break of four days.
Jay added: “We’re playing a gig in Singapore on New Year’s Eve, which
will be awesome, but I’m gutted not to be at home.
Duet
“I’m going to ignore the time when the clock strikes midnight and
pretend it hasn’t happened.”
With a rammed schedule, Nathan ruled out solo work. He laughed: “I don’t
know where that’s come from but between having a throat operation, touring and
making the new album, where would I even find the time?”
The loved-up hunk performed a duet with girlfriend Ariana Grande, 20, in
London on Thursday at her solo show.
Nathan said: “We forget there’s an audience when we’re on stage
together.
“It was the first time I’d sang the song acoustic and only had minutes
to practise.”
Ahh, bless.
