Nathan
Sykes might be under strict doctors orders not to speak, but the 20-year-old
pop hunk let the world know he is doing just fine following recent throat
surgery without uttering a word.
The
Glad You Came singer was spotted leaving a Beverly Hills doctor's surgery with
his parents and sister, Jessica, on Tuesday with a huge smile, suggesting his
recovery is going well.
He had just been given a check-up
following an emergency throat operation that he underwent last Thursday.
After a successful operation last week, the singer was ordered to keep silent for seven days and to stick to a diet of liquids to help his throat recover.
As his week of silence nears it's conclusion, the singer was beaming as he went to enjoy the sunshine with mum and dad, Harry and Karen, who joined the star from the UK for the healing process.
The
singer will need to wait to find out how his voice will heal, however, as
despite the successful surgery and the early good signs, it may be several
months before he knows if he is completely in the clear.
'Nathan had
surgery as planned last week and is now starting on the road towards recovery,'
his publicist said in a statement. 'We won't know how successful the procedure
was until he heals over the coming months.'
The singer does have the
support of his other band members who have tweeted updates on his behalf, with
Tom Parker, 24, saying 'Just seen Nath. He was away with the fairies but
doing OK. Grateful for all your messages x' on the social website following the
surgery.
With Nathan
on hiatus from the band while his voice recovers, fellow singers Max George,
24, Siva Kaneswaran, 24, Jay McGuiness, 22, and Tom have been working extra
hard to fill the void while they keep up with commitments.
The lads
have been in the states to work on their third studio album - due for release
later this year - and have also had all their behind-the-scenes activity
documented for an upcoming E! TV show about their continued success in the
music industry.
They have
been working in the states for the last two months and touched down back in the
UK on Wednesday morning.
The boys
have all taken to their respective twitters to reveal that, while they have
enjoyed their time away, they are unanimously glad to be home.
The band
formed in 2009 and has enjoyed steady success since the release of their debut
single, All Time Low, in 2010 - which made it to the top of the charts.
They have since had two top five albums and have enjoyed considerable
success in America, with their single Glad You Came selling over 3 million
copies.
