The first full week of the all-important November sweeps rating period begins on Monday, which means the networks will roll out their big guns and most popular guests. On Nov. 1, ABC revealed on Medianet GMA’s list of upcoming guests. The biggest “lands” this week include the hugely popular boy band, The Wanted, and Avril Lavigne, who is set to release her fifth album on Nov. 5. “GMA” execs are hoping these two musical acts will boost ratings and attract a younger audience during sweeps.
Back in August, The Wanted packed Central Park for a special “GMA” summer concert. Be sure to watch the video above and to the left to see the fab five sing their top hit “We Own the Night” on “Good Morning America.” In 2012, Jay McGuiness, Nathan Sykes, Siva Kaneswaren, Max George and Tom Parker shot to international fame after releasing their first single “Glad You Came” from their second studio album “Battleground.” It sold more than three million copies in the United States alone. The Wanted’s follow-up singles “Chasing the Sun” and “I Found You” both hit No. 1 on Billboard’s hot dance club songs chart. "Word of Mouth,” their third studio album released last month.
While The Wanted has a devout, loyal and huge following, so does One Direction. According to Metro, One Direction is on track to beat The Wanted in the battle for number one on last week’s UK singles chart. However, The Wanted shows no signs of slowing down. Just last week, they performed “Show Me Love” on “The X Factor UK.” UK's "Daily Mail" said Nathan Sykes opened the song with a solo at the piano. The Wanted also stars in an E! reality series called “The Wanted Life.”
Avril Lavigne is also set to hit “GMA” this week. Her new self-titled album doesn’t release in stores until Nov. 5, but a digital version started streaming last week. According to “Entertainment Weekly,” Lavigne “can’t compete with Miley and Kanye when it comes to making a spectacle of pop spectacle.” It gave the new album a rather mixed review. Regardless, Lavigne still has a strong fan base of young followers, even though she’s now 29. This past July, Lavigne wed Nickelback lead singer at a castle in Southern France. Concerning their relationship, Avril told “People,” “We bonded like crazy. It was like we’d known each other forever.”
The Wanted will perform on “GMA” on Monday, Nov. 4, while Avril Lavigne is set for the following day on Tuesday, Nov. 2. Below are the other guests for the first full week of November sweeps on “Good Morning America.”
